PTCA is a minimally invasive method that allows to dilate the arteries which spread the blood to the cardiac structures (coronary arteries) in the case in which are fully or partially occluded by atherosclerotic plaques. It aims to restore in a particular region of the heart muscle adequate blood flow preventing the occurrence of clinical events that characterize myocardial ischemia (angina, myocardial infarction).
